- Resum
- On account of its position as the capital of the Caliphate, Cordoba was, during the Middle Ages, an ideal city for cultural interchange. From there, the ancient wisdom was, in large measure, spread as well as the medical science of the time. However this paper is focused on the situation of the medicine in Cordoba in the 15th century. It is essentially based on the information drawn from the notarial documentation. In theses sources we come to know details related to the treatment of illness and the diffusion of medical knowledge. The paper draws attention to the abundance of doctors of Jewish origin as well as the importance of family tradition as a means of transmission of medical learning.
