- The physician Jaume Torres came from of an accommodated family of converted Jewess, a community that, just before the installation of the Valencian Inquisitorial Tribunal, found at a phase of assimilation into Valencian society of his time. With a relative calm tenses, Valencian Conversos maintained at the secrecy of his homes his familiar traditions and the practice of the distinct Jewish rites. With the arrival of the Inquisition at Valencia, around of 1482, the relative tranquility of the Jew community viewed truncated. After his family viewed immersed at distinct inquisitorial episodes, in 1502 our doctor was imprisoned by some facts that had passed very before, when Jaume Torres had among nine and eleven years. The age of the accused at the moment of the facts judged was one of the strategies of his pleaded defender, together with the vehement attack against the moral and mental quality of the only witness.
