- Two thirds of Oribasius's "Collectiones medicae" are not preserved. However, a brief fragment of Book xvi (less than twenty lines in the CMG edition) survives in two 16th-century mss., Cambridge, St John's College A 6 (C) and Paris, BnF,gr. 2189 (A). A third ms., Mosq. ii 25 (M), disappeared during the nineteenth century. The Italian humanist G.B. Rasario translated the text in his Latin edition of the "Collectiones." This article discusses the transmission of this work by Oribasius and how it relates to Rasarius' Latin translation. It includes a new edition of the fragment, which turns out to be a combination of five Galenic passages, all in Galen's pharmacological works. As it happens, this is yet another instance of Rasarius' activity as a forger, demonstrated already in relation with several commentaries allegedly written by Galen.
