- Resum
- This study traces the complex tradition of the uroscopic tract attributed to Avicenna and written by John Zacharias Actuarios. The scientific characteristics of the work and its relation to comparable writings in Greek, Arabic and Latin are presented. A comparison of the different known versions of the work leads to the conclusion that the textual model of Actuarios lies in work which is traditionally attributed to the Greek doctor Christodoulos, unknown elsewhere, and which is preserved today in the manuscripts Bodleianus Roe 15 and Coislinianus 334. Independently, this draft is also the model of a shorter version, adespote (lacking the name of the author) and published in Physici et medici Graeci minores by Ideler. The examination of the witnesses indicates that the manuscript tradition of this treatise is divided into two distinct branches, presenting only modest traces of contamination. The stemma codicum given at the end of the article shows the relations between the twelve witnesses useful for establishing the text.
