Fortuna, Stefania, "De humani corporis fabrica di Andrea Vesalio", Medicina e Chirurgia, 60 (2013), 2705 - 2709.
- Resum
- Andreas Vesalius published his De humani corporis fabrica in Basle in 1543. This treatise substituted Galen's anatomy based on animals, and founded modern human anatomy. It was revolutionary because for the first time it criticized Galen, the Greek physician who had dominated the history of medicine until then. Vesalius gave an important contribution to the development of scientific method: he affirmed that the anatomist should trust his own observations and refuse every authority. The 300 illustrations of this treatise, which are precise and beautiful, were reprinted and plagiarized for many years.
