- Nicholas of Reggio is the most prolific Medieval translator from Greek into Latin of medical texts, especially of Galen's works. His translations were done on excellent Greek manuscripts coming from Southern Italy and Byzantium, which seem now to have been lost. However, there is a Greek manuscript of the Vatican Library, Vat. Gr. 283 (= V), which is close to Nicholas' translations. It contains medical texts and six of them were translated by Nicholas, and also a Greek-Latin Glossary with some terms coming from the Greek texts translated by Nicholas and from his translations. Five translations have been already studied and all of them are close to the text of V. This article considers a brief text attributed to Galen, contained in V and translated by Nicholas: De hirudinibus, revulsione, cucurbitula, incisione et scarificatione. The edition of the Greek and Latin texts is provided, together with an introduction on their sources, tradition, reception (Greek and Latin manuscripts, editions, and corrections) and double indexes, Greek-Latin and Latin-Greek indexes. It is shown that Nicholas used V or the antigraph of V for his translation of De hirudinibus, etc., and at least two technical words of his translation are listed in the initial Greek-Latin Glossary of V.
