This study surveys all the Middle English texts on women's medicine that were known to me in the early 1990s. Included here are five different translations of the Trotula texts; two different versions (the original and a later, mid-15th-century rearrangement and elaboration) of the ob/gyn section of an anonymous translation of Gilbertus Anglicus' Compendium medicine; and several miscellaneous texts, including recipe collections, a still-unedited text in Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS Bodley 483 (SC 2062) that combines ob/gyn and andrology, and a translation of some Latin excerpts from Muscio's Gynaecia known as “The Nature of Wommen.” A transcription of the latter text is included.
