- L'evolució tecnològica i morfològica de les naus com a vaixells mercants, junt als progressos en artilleria naval, les van convertir en les protagonistes del paisatge marítim del segle XV. Naus i naus grosses van ser utilitzades a la marina mercant, sobretot en les grans rutes de Llevant i Flandes, però també entre els territoris de la Corona d'Aragó proveint de draps, sal i cereals; foren també emprats com a vaixells de transport de soldats, cavalls i armament als combois militars i fins i tot amb una finalitat bèl·lica (tant defensiva com ofensiva) a les armades d'Alfons el Magnànim. L'estudi s'ha dut a terme a partir de fonts documentals conservades a l'Arxiu Històric de la Ciutat de Barcelona i a l'Arxiu de la Corona d'Aragó, que han permès analitzar les tripulacions de diferents naus del segon quart del segle XV. Es tracta d'un estudi social, on distingim les tasques i responsabilitats de cadascun dels seus membres (patró, oficials i mestres, marineria), així com la quantitat segons el tipus de nau, els salaris i la procedència geogràfica. Cal destacar com a resultat de la recerca realitzada que, sense cap dubte, les tripulacions de les naus tenien una estructura jeràrquica i piramidal, amb una especialització de tasques, una gran diferència salarial i una heterogeneïtat geogràfica, així com econòmica, social, cultural i lingüística.
The technological and morphological evolution of ships as merchant ships, together with advances in naval artillery, made them the protagonists of the maritime landscape of the 15th century. Nefs and carracks were used in the merchant navy, especially on the great routes of the Levant and Flanders, but also between the territories of the Crown of Aragon supplying cloth, salt and cereals; they were also used as ships to transport soldiers, horses and armament in military convoys and even for a warlike purpose (both defensive and offensive) in the armies of Alfonso the Magnanimous. The study was carried out based on documentary sources preserved in the Historical Archive of the City of Barcelona and the Archive of the Crown of Aragon, which have allowed the analysis of the crews of different ships from the second quarter of the 15th century. This is a social study, where we distinguish the tasks and responsibilities of each of their members (skipper, officers and masters, sailors), as well as the quantity according to the ship, the salaries and the geographical origin. It should be noted as a result of the research carried out that, without a doubt, the crews had a hierarchical and pyramidal structure, with specialization of tasks, a large salary difference and geographical heterogeneity, as well as social, economic, cultural and linguistic.
